The wines of Barone di Villagrande
The Barone di Villagrande Farm on the slops of Mt. Etna has belonged to the Nicolosi family since ancient times. In 1727, a decree issued by Emperor Charles VI conferred privileges and the title of Barone di Villagrande to the Nicolosi family in recognition their passion for viticulture. Their skill in the production of fine wines was legendary. The farm lies 1800 feet above sea level in a natural, south-facing amphitheatre in the heart of the DOC Etna and Etna Bianco Superiore appellation zone. The ancient wine cellars have maintained their historic aspect, with stainless and oak barrels aging side by side. On the way back you’ll have the opportunity to see the lava flowns on 1992 and an orientation tour of Catania
